TekVenture is pleased to announce, in collaboration with the Allen County Public Library (ACPL) , a 2014 Chain Reaction Workshop/Clinic/Event on Saturday July 19, 2014 from 9am - noon @ the Downtown Allen County Public Library.
The Chain Reaction event this year is for young people in Kindergarten - 5th grade with the purpose of providing instruction, supplies, tools, and fun for families and friends to build a Chain Reaction Challenge link/machine.
This seventh Chain Reaction Challenge will be a three hour-long event that combines how-to workshop with the actual challenge. While encouraged to bring their own materials for building, teams will also be able to choose free materials for building their contraption from a "stock pile" at the event.
Families with children in Kindergarden through Fifth Grade are invited to create a machine or "link" in this seventh-annual community chain reaction. Work as a team and enjoy the fun by building a contraption that fits on one half of an eight foot table that can start with a golf ball rolling down a ramp and end with a golf ball rolling down a ramp. Your contraption will then start the next contraption with a rolling golf ball .
Check out this fun video from our last event and another on How to Build a Rube Goldberg Machine. Both the video and the How To were produced by Aaron Makin! Aaron and his family have participated in the Chain Reaction Challenge for four of the last five years.

*While TekVenture and the ACPL have suspended their regular Chain Reaction Challenge event this spring, a CRC event for all ages may be offered again in the coming years. We are referring to this 2014 workshop as our “modified Chain Reaction Challenge for a year in transition.” As TekVenture is currently in the process of preparing a permanent presence in a building at 1800 Broadway in Downtown Fort Wayne and the ACPL is currently expanding its resources for technical laboratory settings in the community, the partnership between TekVenture and the ACPL is being revised.
Thank you and hope to see you July 19!
